The 2021 Ford F-150 Powerboost Hybrid Is a Good Buy, According to Facebook Owners

Are you on that proverbial fence, debating whether you’ll regret signing the dotted line for that new Ford F-150 Powerboost Hybrid? Perhaps this Facebook Poll will help you decide. Current F-150 Powerboost owners were asked a very basic question: Do you regret buying your [ Ford F-150] Powerboost [Hybrid]? The Facebookers were also asked which feature/advantage they most appreciated about their Powerboost. Spoiler: It wasn’t the MPG. It was the Pro Power Onboard Generator, by a margin of 2:1 over the MPG.
Who was polled, exactly?

The polls were conducted within a private Facebook group of over 2,700 members called “Ford Powerboost Owners”. Members must be approved by an admin prior to being granted access, and usually require either ownership of a Ford F-150 Powerboost Hybrid. Often times, though, it appears some serious shoppers are provided access for information gathering purposes or to ask current owners for advice. It’s a good and decent group, with most members anxious to answer each other’s questions, post Powerboost pictures and compare/contrast fuel efficiency tips/concerns/notes.
Poll Question #1 of 2: Do you regret buying your Powerboost?
This question was intentionally kept simple and to the point. No vehicle comes without it’s quirks and issues. But in the end, one either regrets their decision to buy, or they don’t. As with any full sized pickup truck, the Ford F-150 Powerboost comes with a multitude of varying reasons people buy their trucks, be it towing, hauling, work purposes, etc. We’ll dive deeper with future polls, but for now, we simply wanted to gauge the general happiness factor.

This Facebook group is quite engaging as a population, so it’s no surprise that in less than 12 hours, over 170 owners responded. As of the time of this writing, only a mere 7 out of 172 owners actually regretted buying their Ford F-150 Powerboost Hybrid. 96% of owners had NO REGRETS. This essentially means: you could literally go up to 100 separate Powerboost owners in parking lots and gas stations and ask them this very same question, and over 9 out of 10 of them will tell you “Nope.” My question to you would then be, by the say, 30th person, why aren’t you convinced yet?
Poll Question #2 of 2: Of the following, which feature/advantage do you appreciate the MOST about your Powerboost?
This question forced the respondent to answer only 1 of the MANY features to love about the Ford Powerboost Hybrid. I wanted to see, that amongst all the benefits, which one feature wins first place? The answer options were plentiful. Let’s go through each one below. Over 130 owners responded in less than 12 hours. Heres what they had to say:

The Pro Power Onboard Generator: Most Appreciated Feature of the Ford F-150 Powerboost By FAR
As you can see from the graphic, these Powerboost owners appreciated the Pro Power Onboard generator more than the Fuel Efficiency benefits. While the fuel efficiency and MPG savings were a respectable second place, this poll confirms our hunch that Ford truck owners still value purposeful tools more than anything else.
The Ford F-150 Powerboost Hybrid comes with a standard 2.4 kW Pro Power Onboard Generator, at no cost. However, you must have the Hybrid engine, which depending on Trim level, can range from a $1900 option from the higher trims, to $4495 at the bottom trim levels. A 7.2 kW upgrade is available for $750 extra on Powerboost Hybrid powertrains.
Fuel Efficiency and MPG savings of the Ford Powerboost Hybrid comes in Second Place
Within the Facebook group are many discussion threads discussing – or more accurately, debating – fuel efficiency and MPG. The Ford F-150 Powerboost EPA rating in 2021 is 24City/24 Highway/24 Combined. While many people are reporting higher than EPA estimates, a few others are reporting numbers below, and sometimes, far below the EPA estimate. It’s understandable that the EPA estimates given to this vehicle used the same algorithms used in other standard passenger vehicles, which likely added to pickup truck owners frustrations. Those EPA factors likely didn’t include heavy towing and higher than average payloads, etc. Most owners have been reporting an average around 20-21 MPG in normal conditions. Remember though, this is “Normal” as defined by actual Powerboost owners, and not “Normal” as defined by the EPA. For more information about how the EPA assigns MPG ratings, visit: EPA.
We see that despite the MPG debates, owners are still satisfied with the MPG numbers. If you’re looking for tips, tricks and techniques for getting even more MPG out of your Powerboost, click HERE. One thing we like to do on a highway is draft, as seen HERE.
12.6% of Respondents Appreciate the Speed

Make no mistake about it. The 2021 F-150 Powerboost Hybrid 4×4 is FAST. With 570 lbs ft of torque this truck gets up to speed VERY quickly With 430 HP it stays at speed VERY easily. Several magazine outlets have logged 0-60 sprints as low as 5.3 seconds. That’s how well 1 ft lb of torque per 10 lbs of curbweight can move some mASS. The speed and performance is undeniable, cannot be unnoticed, and is extremely impressive.
But, the reason we’re making mention of this answer which only received 12.6% of the votes is because of one reason only. It further emphasizes just HOW MUCH these owners appreciate the Pro Power Onboard generator. It’s not as if the competing features against the generator were weak features. The Pro Power Onboard generator faced up against class breaking MPG advancements. It battled never before seen speed and performance from a full sized, daily driving pickup truck.
With a voted percentage that’s more than double the MPG and Fuel Efficiency, and 4.5 times more than the Speed factor, the appreciation for the Pro Power Onboard generator becomes even more remarkable.
Conclusion: The Ford F-150 Powerboost Hybrid is a Winner
All said, it’s clear the 2021 Ford F-150 Powerboost Hybrid is a winner. 96% of 170 owners saying they have no regrets on their purchase says something quite powerful. So, if you’re on that fence, the odds are in your favor. Especially if you can find purpose and value in the Pro Power Onboard generator.
